Kate and Claire’s junior team tennis team, known as the Austin Tennis Academy Dream Team, won the 18 and under Advanced 2009 USTA Junior Team Tennis National Championships on Sunday, November 1, 2009 in Mobile, Alabama. Their team defeated the Eastern, Missouri Valley, Intermountain, Florida and Midwest teams along the way. In the semis, the ATA Dream Team defeated Florida 43-29. In the Finals, the team defeated the Port Huron (Michigan) Rebels 51-34. Their coaches, Jack Newman and Kendall Brooks accompanied the team. Coach Newman observed that the ATA doubles skills were far superior, the level of competition was excellent and the opponents were high quality. Claire played girls singles, with tough competition, including one opponent ranked in top 50 in the country. She also played mixed doubles with Taylor Shamshiri in one match. Kate played girls doubles with Morgan Barnhill. Kate and Morgan won convincingly in each match and helped reduce pressure on the other lines, according to Coach Newman. Way to go girls! Go Kate and Claire, Go ATA, Go Texas!

Here's a picture of Scott in action as we connect the LEDs together in our ultimate fan sign project for our Texas Longhorns. The LED Center, http://led.linear1.org/led.wiz was a great find to help design our LED circuits in a combination of series and parallel to reduce the number of resistors and amount of crimping required.
Some parts are on order so we'll be unveiling it in the next few weeks.Hook 'em!Comments [0]
Today was the first day of this fall season that I've seen the early morning fog over Lake Travis and Lake Austin. It's the signal that fall has officially arrived. Here are two pictures stitched together showing the fog from the Lake Travis main basin to the head of Lake Austin and downstream.
